Matt Handford Gets Published!

A huge congratulations to Matt as he has successfully published a paper in the UKSCA journal recently - a huge achievement, and one that really shows his expertise in this field.. maybe he doesn’t talk a load of rubbish afterall!

The paper looks at post-activation performance enhancement (PAPE) to improve jump performance in training and sport. But what does this mean? PAPE is essentially tricking your body to work harder during a given task, and this results in it performing better than it usually would. An example of how this is achieved is by performing a heavy squat and then doing a jump immediately afterwards. Your body still thinks it has the heavy weight on your back so it gives a maximal effort to send you flying off the floor - but you don’t have this big weight, so you can actually jump a lot higher. Pretty awesome, right?!

Matt has also just received further news that he will be published in the journal of Sports Medicine, this is a highly prestigious journal and a massive achievement for a bloke who struggles to spell his name! We will post the link to the published paper once it has been released!

Matt is clearly doing very well in his PhD, still trying to push on, and will be look for participants for his study soon - so if you can jump, he needs you!

Well done Matt!
