Today’s Challenge: Turkish Get-Ups

This little fitness challenge is definitely going to get those competitive types amongst us, going!

The challenge is simple.. Lay on the floor whilst balancing a book in your hand with an outstretched arm. Then stand up whilst keeping your arm straight and above your head at all times. Once you have completed one repetition, add a book, and repeat!

How many books can you stand up with?

Some info about the Turkish Get Up:

- Useful for nearly every individual and can be done with or without loading
- It can help to improve movement, establish great core strength and enhance upper and lower body mobility
- It increase unilateral shoulder stability due to the demands placed upon the rotator cuff and upper back muscles; as you move from floor to overhead
- It challenges your hip, knee and ankle mobility
- It challenges your core stability

To master this exercise takes total body awareness (proprioception). The Turkish Get-Up can help establish greater muscle coordination, stability and balance.
